The STEAM Club at CFBL remains one of the most subscribed and popular extracurricular activities, with 17 students actively participating this half-term. Each member has been dedicated to developing their skills across various fields, including arts, sculpture, printing, and coding. In addition to coding, students took the initiative to teach themselves how to use Makey Makey, a simple invention kit that allows users to turn everyday objects into touchpads and connect them to the internet. With a quick introduction, students explored how to use Makey Makey to create interactive projects, enhancing their understanding of electronics and creativity.
Year 9 girls, in particular, have focused on achieving the Bronze-level CREST Awards, a nationally recognized award that encourages students to explore science, technology, engineering, and mathematics through hands-on projects. The Bronze Award requires participants to spend at least 10 hours working on a project, demonstrating creativity, problem-solving, and research skills.
This half-term has been a success, with all students showing great enthusiasm and progress in their projects. Even those who couldn’t join the club have shown incredible commitment by dedicating their lunch breaks to completing their CREST Award projects.
Well done to all for their hard work and determination—we look forward to seeing their skills grow even further!
