STEAM Week: A Spectacular Celebration

This year’s STEAM Week was an electrifying success, bringing together students from across the school to explore the wonders of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Maths through hands-on activities, creative projects, and thrilling experiments!

The Maths and Art departments collaborated to create a breathtaking Escher-inspired tessellation, with every secondary school student contributing to this intricate masterpiece of patterns and precision.

Our CP students dived into the fascinating world of slime-making, discovering the science behind polymers in an engaging and messy workshop. Meanwhile, MS students had a blast in their sensory exploration workshops, which included:

  • Blindfolded object guessing—using only touch to identify mystery items

  • Smelly fruit challenge—testing their noses to recognize different scents

  • Banana keyboard – tap the bananas for a note

  • Guess what’s inside the balloon—a tactile challenge filled with surprises!

The STEAM Fair was the showstopper of the week, with secondary school students leading exciting hands-on stations, supported by our DofE volunteers attached to the Art department. The fair began with an explosive elephant toothpaste demonstration led by Year 8 Lily, Isidore, and Elodie, setting the stage for an action-packed event!

Students then explored a variety of interactive STEM stations, including:

  • Candy Science—a delicious dive into chemistry

  • Makey Makey Guitar—demonstrated by Year 7’s Alexandre

  • Magnetic Maze—a clever challenge designed by Year 7’s Tristan and Nassim

  • Magnetic Penny Experiment—led by Year 9’s Sekina, Margot, and Nesrine

  • Badge Making—ran by Year 7’s Julien and Kynan

  • Slime Workshop—a gooey success led by Year 10’s Joseph and Shadi

  • Supermarket Conductive Circuit—run by Year 10’s Noam and Esteban

  • Pixel Pro Game—an impressive Python-coded game created by Year 8’s Hector and Adam

As if that wasn’t enough, we were honoured to welcome a Cambridge researcher, who shared valuable insights of climate change on atmospheric processes, inspiring the next generation of scientists and environmentalists.

A huge thank you to all the staff who supported the event—even if it did cause a little disruption! But most of all, massive congratulations to our student leaders—your passion, creativity, and hard work made STEAM Week an unforgettable success. We could not be prouder!

Here’s to another year of curiosity, discovery, and innovation!
