Le CFBL a été nominé par Timothy Adès en sa qualité de membre de “The Society of authors“.
Auteur, M. Adès est venu de nombreuses années rencontrer les classes de CE1 du Collège Français Bilingue de Londres.
“The Society of Authors is a trade union for professional authors of 11,000 members. Over 11% belong to the Children‘s Writers and Illustrators Group (CWIG) and these authors regularly visit schools across the country delivering talks and workshops. They believe that reading is the core skill that liberates all aspects of education – so they have established an award scheme that allows individual authors to celebrate schools for their excellence.
Timothy Adès has been so inspired by CFBL’s commitment to reading for pleasure, that he has given CFBL an award with the following citation:
“The school has resolved to give the CEI pupils a taste of bilingual poetry and has invited me in annually, for the last four years, as a poetry translator. The staff do a brilliant job of preparing and guiding the children – their library is excellent, they present every child with my handsome bilingual book of Robert Desnos ‘s animal poems and the children charmingly recite one of the poems. I talk to the pupils, answer their questions and sign the books to each child by name. It is a vivid and memorable encounter.” “
